Description: Although solar energy currently represents a smaller portion of the overall energy mix, it holds substantial growth potential. Also it is worth mentioning solar energy contributes to a mere 3% of the total energy mix of Kenya. Current solar production in Kenya is around 500MW compared against a total potential of 15,000MW which highlights the growth potential for solar energy. The Kenya Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP) funded by the World Bank is creditworthy in pushing the idea of increasing the mix of solar energy in Kenya by serving the energy malnourished populations.

Kenya is also recognized as a leader in geothermal energy in Africa, making a significant contribution to the national grid and effectively reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Kenya's favourable policies, including tax exemptions, position the country as a prime destination for foreign direct investment in the energy sector. Kenya’s geothermal potential is estimated to be at a staggering 10000 MW of untapped energy waiting to be harnessed.

With a goal to achieve universal electricity access by 2030, the national energy mix aims to transition from 90% to 100% renewable sources by 2030, integrating geothermal, wind, solar, and hydroelectric power.

With this insight and the ensuring opportunities in the neighbouring countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Tanzania, Bricsa Consulting is committed to host the the 7th Edition of PowerTech Africa, scheduled to be held on 27th & 28th of January 2025. It will be an exclusive closed-door gathering of relevant renewable practitioners from both public and private sectors across the world with a keen interest to participate in the growth and development opportunities in the region. We look forward to welcoming the interested participants to share the platform and be a part of an elite gathering looking towards a positive outcome.
