Description: In line with efforts to advance Ghana’s renewable energy ambitions, IRENA will conduct a workshop with energy sector stakeholders on renewable energy auction design tailored to national development priorities. Under the umbrella of the Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa (APRA), the in-person workshop will seek to affirm Ghana’s strategic government priorities, explore best practices on auction design and implementation from similar contexts, and inform decision-making on auction parameters. The content of the workshop will focus on utility-scale and decentralised renewable energy and will highlight several objectives, including broader socio-economic goals beyond price competitiveness. The format will mix lecture-style sessions with interactive roundtables, breakout groups, and simulations.
