Description: At the intersection of energy access, socio-economic development and climate change, decentralised renewable energy (DRE) can be a strong ally to generate at least 4.5 million direct jobs by 2030 and build on Africa’s emerging pool of women and youth talents to accelerate Africa’s green recovery.
In the context of ARE’s DRE Recovery Campaign, supported by GET.invest– a programme supported by the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria, that promotes investments in renewable energy, the session will showcase catalytic business models to support rural communities recover better and faster from the pandemic by promoting sustainable economic development and job creation for woman and youth in rural economies.
The session 'Creating Jobs and Empowering Women & Youth via Renewable Electrification in Africa' on 15 February 2022 at 10.00 CET will take place in the framework of the EU-Africa Business Forum.
