Renewable Energy in Libya: Potential and Challenges

Date & Time: 25 March 2021 at 3 pm CET

Organizers: RES4Africa Foundation and GECOL

Description: In 2013, The Libyan Government launched the Renewable Energy Strategic 2013-2025 Plan, which aims to achieve 7% renewable energy contribution to the electric energy mix by 2020, and 10% by 2025. Nonetheless, recent political conflicts, together with lack of adequate policies, feed-in tariffs and lack of financial tools and guaranties are hampering the full development of the country’s potential, in terms of renewable energy sources.

In order to propose answers and solutions to those issues, RES4Africa Foundation and GECOL are organising a webinar, scheduled for the 25th March 2021, with the aim of sheding light on the renewable energy potential in Libya.

Through this webinar, RES4Africa Foundation aims to promote Public-Private Dialogue on the barriers and drivers for renewable energy investments in Libya with a focus on regulatory and infrastructure, as well as on the features of a bankable Power Purchase Agreement for the renewable energy sector in Libya.
