This project includes a Rural Electrification component that will electrify communities along the 330 kV line to increase social acceptance of the transmission line project. This component will be implemented by SONABEL. The SONABEL has already carried out an identification of 179 localities and predefined for the different localities the mode of connection either by an extension of the existing MV network or by Shield Wire System (SWS) technology. The objectives of the feasibility study are to support SONABEL in (i) the definition of the optimal technical solution (ii) the preparation of drawings (line routing, layout, etc) and technical specifications for the electrification of these communities around the Northcore project. This study should provide all the elements required for SONABEL to (i) finalize the tender documents (ii) complete the ESIA, ESMP and RAP.
