Description: As part of the control and supervision mission of the construction project for the 225 kV Guinea-Mali power interconnection line and related substations, the Governments of Guinea and Mali have obtained funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (EBID), the West African Development Bank (BOAD), the World Bank (WB) and the European Union (EU) for the realization of the PIEGM works which includes:
- The construction of a 225 kV double-circuit line approximately 714 km long (from the Sanakoroba substation in Mali to the N’Zérékoré substation in Guinea);
- The extension of the 225/33 kV source substation at Sanankoroba located approximately 25 km from Bamako;
- Construction of the new 225/30 kV source substations in Siguiri, Fomi, Kankan, Kérouané and Beyla in Guinea; and
- The extension of the 225/30 kV source substation at N’Zérékoré in Guinea.
This project is expected to increase the availability of electricity in the two (2) countries and strengthen the establishment of the regional electricity market in West Africa.
