Description: The Gambia is at a pivotal stage in its energy transition, with renewable energy recognised as a cornerstone for sustainable development, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth. Yet, persistent gender inequalities and energy poverty - particularly in rural areas - continue to constrain women’s opportunities, wellbeing, and leadership. This study, commissioned by the African Development Bank in partnership with Enda Energie and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, provides a gender-transformative framework to ensure women are not only beneficiaries but also leaders and partners in shaping The Gambia’s clean energy future.
