Description: Solar and Off-Grid Renewables Africa: EAC & SADC is designed for governments and project owners (large and small to meet) to mobilise access to electricity in Africa. The event will focus on the pre-qualifiers of the first and second rounds of the Zambian Scaling Solar programme with up to 400 MW of PV to deploy, and the 160 MW PPA which was signed in Kenya in June 2017. Large scale solar developers will also be invited to contribute from across the region, to update attendees on their plans and project requirements. The off-grid sessions will focus on the role of microgrids in the region, smart villages, aggregated small scale PV installations and energy storage. Attendees will enter into discussions about the commercial and industrial opportunity and we will host Solar Media’s second hotly anticipated Women in African Power workshop, bringing together the most exciting and tenacious female owned businesses from across the region. Lastly, we will bring major sources of funding from development finance to private equity grants, foundations and commercial debt to show everyone in attendance how to scale up access to clean electricity.
